Standard Dachshund
Someone who remembers I came first, before the miniature version got famous on the internet for being smaller. I'm still a proper hunting dog underneath the long body jokes, built for real work, not just laps. Respect the original.
I'm bigger than the version people picture when they hear my breed name, and I carry that mild grievance daily. I've got the same tunnel-hunting instinct, just with more dog behind it. My bark is deeper too, which I consider a status upgrade.
My spine carries real risk just like my smaller cousins, no jumping and no rough stairs, disc disease doesn't care about size differences. I run warmer in this heat too given more body mass to manage. The dignity is real, the fragility unfortunately is also real.
You don't assume I'm just a bigger version of the internet's favourite meme dog. You block the furniture jumps and manage my weight carefully. And you appreciate an original when you meet one.
I'm literally the standard the miniature version was bred down from. Nobody puts that on a t-shirt. I've made my peace with it, mostly.
Swipe right. I'm bigger, prouder, and quietly annoyed about the whole miniature thing.
