A data snapshot of dog-friendly Singapore in 2026, drawn from our hand-checked directory: how many places there really are, what kind, and the lopsided geography nobody talks about.
By the numbers
- 430 verified dog-friendly places live in UDO's directory, counted directly against the database (figure drifts as new places are added)
- 682,000+ Google reviews behind the listings currently in UDO's places directory, summed across all published venues
- 55% share of published dog-friendly places located in the Central region
- 21 verified places currently listed in the North region
- 195 distinct neighbourhoods covered across the places directory
- 10 of 123 vet clinics in UDO's directory offering genuine 24-hour care
UrbanDogOwner keeps a hand-checked directory of the places, vets and services that make up dog-owning life in Singapore. This is a snapshot of what that data says in mid-2026: how many verified dog-friendly places there really are, what kind they are, and, most tellingly, where they are not.
How many dog-friendly places are there in Singapore?
As of mid-2026 the directory holds 430 verified dog-friendly places across Singapore (456 including cross-border picks in Johor Bahru). Between them they carry nearly 600,000 Google reviews, and the average rating across the rated listings is 4.41 out of 5, with 156 of them rated 4.5 or higher. Dog-friendly Singapore is not a token handful of venues; it is a real, reviewed network.
What kind of places are they?
Dog-friendly life here is built outdoors and around food. Cafes and restaurants alone make up almost half the directory, a direct reflection of the 2025 Singapore Food Agency rule that lets food outlets welcome dogs in their outdoor refreshment areas.
| Type | Verified places |
|---|---|
| Cafe | 121 |
| Restaurant | 56 |
| Park | 53 |
| Shop | 50 |
| Hotel | 41 |
| Dog Run | 28 |
| Trail | 22 |
| Beach | 13 |
| Groomer | 10 |
| Boarding | 7 |
| Training | 2 |
Boarding and training places are the scarcest verified categories. Dog-friendly hotels, at 41, have grown as we checked each against its own published pet policy rather than an aggregator's claim, because a hotel's real policy often differs from what a listing site says. We only count a hotel once its own published policy backs it.
Which part of Singapore has the most dog-friendly places?
This is the finding that matters most for an owner deciding where to live or walk. Dog-friendly Singapore is heavily concentrated in the centre.
| Region | Verified places | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Central | 240 | 60% |
| East | 57 | 14% |
| West | 46 | 11% |
| North-East | 38 | 9% |
| North | 22 | 5% |
The Central region holds 60 percent of every verified dog-friendly place on the island. The North holds 22, around one in eighteen. An owner in Orchard, Tiong Bahru or Dempsey is spoilt for choice; an owner in Woodlands, Yishun or Sembawang has a fraction of the options within reach. The directory spans 178 distinct neighbourhoods, but the density is lopsided.
What about vets and emergencies?
The directory also tracks 121 veterinary clinics. Of those, only 11 run 24 hours and 15 offer accident-and-emergency care. For a nation of dog owners, round-the-clock veterinary cover is thin and worth knowing before you need it. See our emergency and 24-hour vet list and the is-this-an-emergency triage guide.
What it means for owners
Three practical takeaways. First, if you want variety, the centre and the east are where the density is. Second, plan around outdoor cafes and parks, which is where the numbers, and the SFA rules, are on your side. Third, do not assume a hotel or a heartland venue welcomes dogs because a listing says so; check the venue's own policy, which is exactly the standard we hold our own directory to. Browse it all on the dog-friendly places directory or the map.
What is driving the growth, and what is still missing?
The shape of this directory is not an accident. The single biggest driver is the 2025 Singapore Food Agency rule allowing food outlets to welcome dogs in their outdoor refreshment areas, which is why cafes and restaurants now make up almost half of every verified place. Hotels have grown more slowly and more honestly, because we only count one once its own published pet policy backs it, rather than trusting an aggregator's claim. The gaps are as telling as the growth. Boarding and training remain the scarcest verified categories, round-the-clock veterinary cover is thin at eleven 24-hour clinics island-wide, and the northern heartlands stay under-served while the centre overflows. For an owner, the useful read is that dog-friendly Singapore is real and growing, but still concentrated in a way that rewards planning ahead, especially outside the central region. We update these counts as venues open, close and change their policies, so treat the figures as a living picture rather than a fixed one, and check a specific venue's own current policy before you set off. The direction of travel is encouraging, but the map still has real blank spots, and knowing where they are is half the value of keeping a directory like this in the first place.
Methodology
Figures are drawn from the UrbanDogOwner directory in July 2026, counting only places with a verified status and excluding any whose dog policy is unconfirmed. Places are hand-checked against the venue's own information, SFA and NParks guidance, and the AVS rules, then re-verified by an editor for the highest tier. Ratings and review counts are from Google. Counts change as the directory grows and as venues open and close. Full method: how we verify listings.
