What the FY2024/25 annual report says

The 2025 annual report covers 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025. It was the newest report linked from SPCA’s report index when checked on 23 September 2026.

  • Page 5 records 329 animal adoptions: 88 dogs, 222 cats and 19 other animals. These are completed adoptions during that reporting period, not animals available today.
  • It records 645 pets from low-income households receiving veterinary care. This is a historical service count, not an entitlement or an eligibility threshold.
  • It reports no euthanasia of healthy or treatable animals. The same table records 73 euthanasia cases for untreatable sick or injured animals, comprising three dogs and 70 cats. The report does not say there was zero euthanasia overall.

Do not combine these fiscal-year figures with calendar-year welfare-report case counts to calculate a trend or rate. They describe different activities, periods and denominators. The earlier FY2023/24 figures of 108 canine adoptions and 433 total animal adoptions remain historical facts about that earlier period.

What still needs individual confirmation

Ask about the animal’s health and behaviour records, support after adoption, fee inclusions, household visits and any training commitment. The FY2023/24 report describes compulsory puppy training for dogs aged five months and younger with Puppy Love. We could not establish today’s exact provider, threshold, timing or charges from the current adoption page or the newer report. Do not treat that historical policy as a current universal requirement.

The older report attributes reduced shelter-animal stress to appointment-only visits. Its historical adoption-drive timetable should not be reused as a current schedule. Check today’s appointments and events directly with SPCA.

Prepare for the conversation

Take the printable adoption questions, discuss the individual animal and keep any promises or required costs in writing. Read our dog adoption hub for the relevant species-specific process and preparation.
